I never heard of any re-release coming out, and none has materialized since your post. All that's available is the same old lousy p&s version. I'm not hopeful about Universal ever bringing out a proper 2.35:1 print of this. I bought an R2 widescreen DVD and it's fine, though obviously you need a Region 0 DVD player to watch it in the US. (The other question is why Universal did a w/s version in Britain but only a p&s disc in America. The same with Charley Varrick and other titles released under the one-shot label "Universal Selections" in America, all of which were issued in crummy p&s formats in the States but for some reason were produced in their proper aspect ratios abroad.)
