Amazing. All this paranoid fear for one of the most ineffective organizations created by man.

Get all worked up about the black helicopters and the U.N. tanks rolling down Stemmons Freeway if you want, but you have no real world experience if you think the U.N. could pull off an invasion of Luxembourg, much less the U.S.

And no, D.F. Jones had no such overblown metaphor in mind when he wrote this novel in the 1960s.
