i remember him leaving Clearboy in the Rosebushes outside the castle in the front, saying that he was going to scale the wall and let the drawbridge down, though i dont remember seeing him get shot by any of the german infantry. Does anyone know what happened to him? thanks in advance..

Sgt. Rossi's death isn't shown in the movie. As near as I can figure, he is killed while trying to get into the castle. Lt. Amberjack and Clearboy are then overrun by the attacking Germans.

i think a lot of this movie is open to ones own interpritation. besides him saying "were screwed" his face is showing ultimate dread. im thinking, since i dont want to think of the idea of a dead peter falk, that rossi found his way back to his bakery to his woman and his child. i hope that was his end at least.

He is reported to have been killed in the next scene.
The whole swimming the moat was a fantasy. I took it to be his dying thoughts.
That he is reported killed is correct. As near as I recall, the line is
"Lt Amberjack, Sergeant Rossi, and Cpl Clearboy are dead in the rose garden".
I think Pfc Benjamin so reports to Major Falconer.
