Recommend me a DVD (collection) for my kids

My kids loves Barney and friends and Yo gabba gabba.
They like the whole 'people and talking teddy's' scenario as opposed to pure cartoons. Tweenies and Waybuloo are also favorites, but the older one is growing out of Waybuloo now though.

Sesame street is supposed to be better - I should know but it's very limited what I've seen to be honest. I guess I grew up in a country where it wasn't that popular.

The kids are 1 and 2.5 years old. I've shown them The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland - it's on Netflix, but to be honest, they've lost interest very quickly. I think that's probably aimed at more of a 4-8 years old crowd.

So, any good DVD/ collection? There's doesn't seem to be much around in terms of collections.
I found 'Sesame Street: 40 Years Of Sunny Days' - it's only 2 DVDs though, and a bit pricey for 2 DVDs, around £18.

Any recommendations? 43 seasons is a lot of material and I'd prefer getting the best stuff.

They've released some episodes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s so far.

Your kids are extremely young and probably won't watch an entire show of anything from start to finish. However, I recommend Sesame Street DVDs (Old School Vol. 1, 2, and 3.) Also the Sesame Street 40 Years of Sunny Days as you mentioned. You also may want to invest in an XBox Kinect, which allows the kids to interact with the video game and live within the game's adventures. Good exercise for them, and it'll give you a couple hours of your own time. Great for bad weather days also.

More TV/DVD recommendations for young kids:

The Banana Splits (no learning, just pure entertainment)

Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood (learning)

Mickey Mouse Club House (learning...on the Disney Jr. channel)

The Muppet Show (entertainment)

Pee-Wee's Playhouse (entertainment with a sprinkle of learning, but VERY funny.)

Small Potatoes (learning)

Muppet Babies (entertainment)

But no kid's show will ever beat Sesame Street, though. There's a reason it's been on the air for 45 years. It's the best bang for your buck, bar none.

40 Years of Sunny Days might be a good pick.

I've just ordered Old School Vol. 3. OK, I'm 35 and it's a trip down Memory Lane! But I guess if I can love it roughly 32-33 years after I originally saw it, it must have a timeless quality about it. Big Bird, Snuffy, Barklay and that weird plaque thing that various characters used to hold on the end credits were staples of pre-school life for me on Channel 4!

If you're still looking, you could also find some of the classic Sesame Street movies and specials.

My toddler loves Elmo, but she loves these pre-Elmo classics as much as I do. We also love the 40 Years of Sesame Street collection. It's hours long, so I think it's definitely worth the price, and it's neat to see the early clips from before I was even born, and to see how much the show has evolved over the decades.
