What county is Luxton in

I know Luxton is in the Home Counties but which one is it set in? Anyone spot any clues during the series? I suspect its Essex.

Well the website for On the Buses, at least for the films, states in and around Borehamwood (Being that they were all filmed at the studios there) I even noticed one episode filmed in Notting Hill/ Holland Park, so I think it was a general no-man's land!

Wasn't the bus garage exterior, filmed in Wood Green north london?

True, the films were made in and around Borehamwood, and featured location filming in many places in London.

However, 'Luxton' in the TV series was supposed to be in Essex, located somewhere between Basildon and Southend. There are often adverts on the side of Stan's bus for the Cliffs Pavillion, Southend's biggest theatre. There are episodes were these places are mentioned. I think 'Busmen's Holiday' mentions Stan picking people up from Basildon before going to Southend Airport.

Hope this helps!

There are a few references to Basildon and I think one episode mentions Braintree - so, if my geography is correct, it's somewhere in Essex.

Further to my earlier answer, in the episode 'Aunt Maud', Stan takes a detour from the cemetary gates to pick up his Aunt from Tilbury station, which is 'three miles away.' So that definitely places Luxton in south Essex, around the Basildon/Thurrock area.

The films were filmed on the streets of Borehamwood and surrounding area. The TV Series though was filmed in various locations around London.Early episode locations were filmed north of the Thames as the LWT Studios were in Wembley. The final series saw LWT transfer production to the South Bank Studios which also saw them use locations just south of the Thames. For more details of filming locations pop along to my forum.
