The first episode

Is that a different house?

It doesn't look like the Brady house in the following episodes. If so, then how come we never hear about the first Brady house? Where was Carol living? I assume with her parents?

So Mike sold his house from episode one and then bought a new house for episode two?

Possible!

reply

yes. I call it the Pilot House. and that house was no where near big enough to house three boys and a father and a maid much les three girls and a mother as well.

that was like a Bachelor Pad house.

Oh God. Fortune vomits on my eiderdown once more.

reply

The house in the pilot is supposed to the the same house as the series. The fact is they didn't build sets until after the pilot was picked up, so it looks different. But from a dramatic license standpoint, it's the same house. Listen to the boys' dialogue in "To Move Or Not To Move" - it's clear they have lived in the house a long time and didn't move when Mike got married.

reply

Yes, and didn't Mike build the house? He'd never have had time to build a whole house between the pilot and episode 2. There should have been a few episodes with them all crowded into the pilot house while waiting to build the new house but no, so he must have built it years before.

reply

The house in the pilot was where I assume Mike and the boys lived with their biological mother before she passed, and where Alice was brought in to help. Carol and the girls could have had their own place, but they also could have lived with her parents. Mike builds the Brady house as we know it during their engagement, and they all move in after the wedding.

(except Bobby forgets that he lived in another house in a later episode!)
