McQueen's Favorite Movie?

I heard on television when I was watching An Enemy of the People that it was Steve McQueen's favorite movie, and not The Thomas Crown Affair. Is there some proof to either comment?

I think in the commentary of the DVD Norman Jewison the Director said Steve Mc Queen adored spending the days racing those buggies like crazy on the sand & that someone would pay him lots of money for doing that !

That's cool.

i ain't got proof, but i heard his favourite movie was The Thomas Crown Affair.

I saw a documentary on McQueen in which Loren Janes (McQueen's long time stunt double) said he and Steve were reminiscing about the movies they had made together just before Steve died. He said Steve said Tommy Crown was his favorite movie.

Several McQueen biographies have stated that "The Thomas Crown Affair" was his personal favorite of all his movies. He also supposedly used the name Thomas Crown as an alias on occasion.

In the trivia section, it states that there have been reports that The Thomas Crown Affair was his favorite. I'm quite surprised. I would have suspected Bullitt or The Sand Pebbles as McQueen's favorite movie.

I'm not surprised. My guess? That this great but troubled actor with the reform school backround loved the opportunity to play the suave, sophisticated, rich guy for a change (in other words, the "Cary Grant role")...something he never had the chance to do very much, if at all, ever again.

Many people think that Steve McQueen was like Thomas Crowne. Maybe what they had in common was the search for identity, "What I will be tomorrow." To me, they look different on the outside. Steve was more likely to wear custom-made jeans and go motorcycle racing than play polo. Reform school was a far cry from the Ivy League school that Crowne attended.
