What Happened to the Eating Scene?

If you liked the eroticism of the chess game, you should see the original eating scene -- much sexier, much more powerful and still sophisticated.

I just saw the film on TV and WHERE WAS THE EATING SCENE? It's one of the best parts of the film. Surely TV can handle subtlety? Or can it?

I am one of those "adherents" who love this film -- saw it 6 times when it came out. I grew up in Boston, flew gliders at that time (but wasn't rich), watched the polo games at Myopia Hunt Club on the North Shore. So the film was a natural for me. (By the way, the glider landed at a field right beside Rockingham Raceway in southern New Hampshire. It was sold to become a golf club a few years ago.)

Final note: Steve McQueen was truly "the real thing". There's a website that has mugshots of various personalities (especially actors & actresses) who got arrested, typically for drunk driving. They all look terrible -- except Steve McQueen!! Check out http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/index.html and see that his screen persona and his real self were the same thing. I love that guy!

Poster oleh77, was the eating scene you remember in the remake with RENE RUSSO and PIERCE BROSNAN?

That's not in this film, it's in Tom Jones.
