The worst 'cops' ever ##spoilers?##

regarding the two detectives that trail Thomas Crowne throughout the movie. Well, I think only one was a detective, the woman was an insurance investigator? But did anybody notice how many times these two blatently broke the law? Not even bend it, I mean raped it. They Stole the getaway drivers car, and then they KIDNAPPED HIS SON?!!? held him for ransom and made him pay it! then forced a confession out of him AFTER the fact! They also broke into Crowne's house without a warrant to install "wall to wall carpeting", Vicki refuses to corroborate with the authorities, and then at the end of the movie, she commits what is obviously destruction of evidence by tearing up the note that crowne leaves her.

Did you not notice how angry the detective gets at her for this? She's apparently not bound by due process- she tells him it's only about the money for her.

can someone tell me why they hired an insurance investigator since it's not an insurance fraud but a bank robbery? i just don't get it!

She's not working for the bank, or the police. She works for the insurance company but the key is that she gets a 10% share of whatever is recovered. In many ways she's even more amoral than Thomas Crown.

The cheque that was handed over was from the insurance company to the bank and so they're the ones who want to get their money back.
