The girlfriend: a very annoying character

Early in the movie, when Faber is at the airport on a tip from the Vatican to do an interview with an "arriving dignitary," she all but stomps her feet and throws a temper tantrum because George won't pay attention to her.

Faber is supposed to be a world-famous TV correspondent. He is at the airport to interview a man whose release would make worldwide headlines. Yet this bimbo chick is doing her little drama-queen act because George won't drop everything to come admire her nail polish.

Yes, the young, childish girlfriend was a MAJOR irritation.
I could have done without her altogether-- or at least they could have made "the girlfriend" a more logical person for the adult George Faber to have an affair with. One questions what kind of person George Faber was; by his choice of child-girlfriend, it makes you wonder about his own emotional maturity and how he got such a high-up position in his profession.
