Mr Bean based on this movie!

Does anyone else think that Mr Bean is somewhat based on this character? I mean... he drives a blue 3 wheeled car and just does stupid things. Mr Bean is the same, he always makes a mess of everything and he is always trying to knock over the blue 3 wheeled car! Also, in the Mr Bean movie he rubs the paint off a painting just like in this movie! Just an observation. :)

He grows up and marries you...is that what you wanted to hear?

Mr Bean drives a red Mini. So your whole case crumbles.

I never said Mr Bean drives a the blue three wheeled car. I said that he likes to chase the blue three wheeled car that is in the show. Learn to read man.

I can see some resemblances between Hrundi and Mr. Bean, but they are more appearance than other thing. Hrundi is a foreign trying to fit in a strange culture. Plus, he's a pure and nice man. This two characteristics make a high contrast with the other people around (less with the french girl).

On the other hand, Mr Bean is just a sad lonely man that can be really evil at times (i'm talking about the TV series, because the movie portrayed him like a complete retarded).

Hrundi has no evil in him, thus the differences.

I definately agree with your differences mentioned. I just think that some of Mr Beans' characteristics, the clumsy ones, could be based on Hrundi and the silly things he does throughout the party. Hrundi is definately more likeable than Mr Bean.

Yes, Mr. Bean the TV series is partly based on a few concepts taken from this movie for sure. Both Sellers and Atkinson are British and Atkinson has an Indian wife, so there is some chance that he got interested in the Bean character from Bakshi.

Actually, both this movie and Atkinson borrow heavily from Jaques Tati. Most of his movies feature a similar character. Watch Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot (1953) for a prime example.

Yes, I recommend Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot, obviously Rowan Atkinson knew it. Of course, Play Time is another masterpiece, the last hour of the movie is just a big party (in a restaurant).

I think that there are great similarities between this film and Mon Oncle, more than Hulot...Particularly the electronic stuff in the house, but BEAN?

Nah, I think that Atkinson ripped most of his stuff off from Buster Keaton. Take the swimming pool scene in "THe Cameraman" for instance, Atkinson just used the material and added lots of stupid faces.

Keaton has such heroism and strength. Bean has none.
