Too bad the Heisei series never had a movie like this

The Showa series had this film, with all the monsters up to that point appearing and duking it out with Ghidorah as the final opponent. And the Millennium series has Final Wars which is basically a modern update of this film with a similar premise. The only Godzilla series not to have a film like this is the Heisei series (the one in between Showa and Millennium starting with The Return of Godzilla). Godzilla vs. Destoroyah was a pretty good finale though, with the opposing monster being a terrifying and worthy final villain. I just wish there could have been another match up during the 90's era with all the Heisei monsters appearing in the same movie. Would have awesome to see Biollante again, among others. Oh well.
