Canada?

The movie starts with everyone wishing each other Happy New Year when called for the fire that Chance gets hurt at.While he is still in the hospital Greg and Tish get married.They are then called about a fire in Canada and say that Canada is a good place to honeymoon.Now that would have me thinking it's sometime in January at the most February.Now I'm no weather expert but it seems to me there were a lot of green trees in the background for January in Canada.

Evergreens are quite likely.

An oil well fire in Canada of that era would almost certainly be in the Province of Alberta.

As a Western province, Alberta would have lots of evergreen trees, like pines, and few of the deciduous trees that drop their leaves in Winter.

I'm Canadian and I haven't seen this movie yet. I'll probably be too busy checking out Jim Hutton in order to notice the trees.

We do have pine trees which are green year round. Of course, other trees here lose their leaves in early October. I live in Edmonton, and I should mention that some places in Canada don't get as much snow as we do. Vancouver's climate is different than ours.
