I may seem stupid but when I watched this movie I had no idea that Fannie Brice did exist and that the movie was based on real events. It just happened that today I was watching The Great Zegfeld and saw an actress named Fannie Brice who looked just like Barbra Streisand. I wouldn't have known just by the name, but the two of them are just identical. I just couldn't believe that the producers did find a dead ringer to Fannie Brice to play this role...

Anyway I have read the facts on Fannie Brice's life have been altered too much for dramatic purposes. Therefore if you wanna know more about the real "Fanny" you gotta look somewhere else. Perhaps to read a good biography about her life. As far as I am concerned, I will watch asap The Great Ziegfeld once again, if just to spot the real Fannie Brice.
