song missing from soundtrack cd

Watched Funny Girl tonight and was so impressed I've just bought the cd. Was only when I was playing it that I've realised 'Second Hand Rose' is missing. This is such a famous song that I don't understand why it's not on.

Cheers

I did not know that! And I agree, it was one of the best songs in the film and play. I'll tell you, though, if you want a comprehensive collection of her early music, including most of Funny Girl (some of it live from her original Broadway run), get "Just For the Record", the 4 disc set; I saw her in concert in Columbus, OH this month, and she did a LOT of music from her early years.

The version on the disc set of Second Hand Rose is really great; the first part is her mother singing the song; then it segues into Barbra...absolutely brilliant. (You can buy is used on Amazon for about 7 bucks...for four discs...DEFINITELY worth it).

No, no..."cruelty." I always think that has a nobler ring to it.

it was probably something to do with the song rights and payment for them.
