Coogan's Bluff - The Cloisters

How far is Coogan's Bluff (Upper Manhattan) from The Cloisters (part of Metropolitan Museum's collection, also in Upper Manhattan.

reply

It's about two miles - Coogan's Bluff is at 155th Street and the Cloisters are at about 200th (actually called Dyckman) Street.

The name Coogan's Bluff seems to have fallen out of use - I doubt you would find many New Yorkers under the age of sixty who have heard of it.

I took the IRT/7th Ave. subway to 168th street and transferred to the A Train
and got off at Dyckman and walked up Fort Tryon to the Cloisters, marveling at
the view of the Hudson River - George Washington Bridge and New Jersey Palisades.

Have you been up there?

RD

reply

Sure, I've been there a number of times. I grew up in Morris Heights in the Bronx, which is directly across the river.
