San Francisco as a character (again)

Just cool as heck. McQueen was such an icon. San Francisco and the car chase may be what this film is predominantly known for but it’s way more than that. Sharp dialogue and a clever twist play a part too.

And Michael Mann completely ripped the airport scene off for the climax of H.E.A.T.

SF is a city, and a garbage one at that, but not a character

I lived in San Francisco in the 1970s. Most of the city north of Market Street was beautiful, and the parks were safe. I spent some more time there in 2002, and it had become even cleaner and nicer. Today it's been destroyed by policies that coddle criminals and bums. It's tragic.

Ok, but it was still a city when this movie was made and not a character
