DNA evidence has even come out to prove for a fact that DeSalvo did not murder Mary Sullivan. The jerks never reopened the case to find Mary's killer. The real Boston Strangler is either dead or still out there. This movie is a bunch of crap. The whole multiple personality disorder thing is the worst. DeSalvo never had this and was never thought to have this. This movie is fiction. It's almost as fictional as The Strangler with Victor Buono. I don't know who the Strangler was. For all we know it could've been a guy like the psycho Victor Buono played. But it wasn't Albert DeSalvo.

I was just reading about all this stuff tonight. Did he really brag about being the strangler?

Anyone stupid enough to take credit for such a horrendous crime does indeed deserve great pain. That being said...there seems to be little to no physical evidence connecting him to the crimes?

I agree it is largely fiction, but Curtis is quite superb in it.

When I first saw the movie I thought it was great. But now I can't watch it anymore. It is complete BS. DeSalvo was not the Boston Strangler and he did not have a multiple personality disorder. There's a new movie coming out about the Boston Strangler. They better not say it was DeSalvo.

Let me also say that I am in no way sympathizing with DeSalvo, but I sympathize with his family. They want the case re-opened due to this new evidence proving his innocence. But Albert DeSalvo was a real a****** to confess. They could've continued looking for the real guy if it wasn't for him. Because of DeSalvo the real Strangler got away. I also sympathize with Mary Sullivan's family. They also want the case re-opened. They want Mary's real killer brought to justice.

My father was very good friends with Albert DeSalvo when they were in the army together.....they both were also Boxers in the army as well. Back in the 60s when DeSalvo escaped from prison, the FBI actually came to our house when I was just a kid to interview my father because they thought that DeSalvo may try to contact my dad for some help....My Father always said that he believed that DeSalvo did not commit these murders...sadly both of them are dead now so there is no way of finding out any more information....just wanted to add my 2 cents to this topic.

They stopped. The real Strangler obviously realized he was off the hook. If he continued, he'd give himself away. I don't know what happened to the real Strangler, but I hope he suffered and died. If he is still around, I hope they find him.

Yep, Desalvo's DNA matched the semen collected at the scene.

That doesn't mean that he was responsible for all the murders or that he even acted alone.

Even authorities are stressing that the DNA match links him only to Mary Sullivan, and that's not enough to close the case.

Also, remember that DeSalvo was preparing to tell the truth about the murders, but he was killed the night before he vowed to do so.

The MOs of the other murders vary, so it's possible that there was more than one killer.

Just sayin'.

The whole thing makes no sense. I read many years ago they found traces of semen that didn't match with DeSalvo. They didn't budge how many years. Then all of a sudden they come out with new evidence saying, "Oh yeah, we found a match this time." You also can't ignore the inconsistencies in DeSalvo's confession. Or as someone else has mentioned, he was going to talk more about what he knew and then he's suddenly murdered in prison. The whole thing is suspicious. I think they were eager to say it was DeSalvo, so they could calm everyone. I've read about a lot of confessions before that were either suspicious, recanted, or proven to be false.
