This is NOT a movie

It's an EXPERIENCE, and one that not many people of the younger generations will embrace so readily these days.

Prove me wrong.

Nobody cares
And just so you know movies are meant to be an experience

A sublime & transcendent experience at that!

reply

Fact: It's a movie. So you're WRONG!

If you had a brain you would know the two are not exclusive.

reply

How do you know that person doesn't have a brain? I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to type something on a computer if one did not have a brain.

reply

no one cares about this film anymore, bore-fest.

reply

True, but few will admit it.

reply

I find it both compelling and gripping, not boring. Well, at least until the last 20 minutes when it becomes a bore-fest..

reply

While I disagree about the last 20 minutes, yours is a fair & honest response. It all comes down to each viewer's personal experience of this film ... or any film, in fact. That's all that matters in the end.

reply

At the time it was astounding. Now it is a fantastic movie historical place maker.

As Sci fi, with dated technology, I love it.

As a movie, I never recommend it to any one

reply

You're correct.

reply

Absolutely. It still has no equal.

I read is this a partial reason why it did so well in box office.

Hippies would take acid, go the the theater and trip out to this film.

LOL, funny, but I don't think that acid was the reason (although there might have been a few I suppose). I was just a kid when it came out but it was a sensation with the sci-fi crowd. Even today, the effects are amazing and far more convincing that any CGI stuff currently made.

It was actually like seeing space flight, and the sentient computer HAL was a shocker, particularly since HAL didn't have a robotic mechanical voice.

Yeah it's a great movie. Thinker. I read the book so I understood what was going on. But I could see people being confused on first viewing.

I had a friend of a friend (dead now) who delved into the drug side..this was one of his favorites to get stoned to and he was a Gen Xer like me.

reply

The acid story has really been overblown. Certainly there were some who did so, but for the majority, the movie itself was more than trippy enough :)

reply

Could it possibly be both? A movie that's also a great experience? Just sayin'.
