The title says it all. I watched it some 20 years ago and have never regretted my life choices more.
It's a steaming pile of garbage made for pretentious overthinkers who try to forcibly find a deeper meaning in the way that an art gallery would prop up a scribble drawn by a 2 year old.
1 more thing. This is a hot take that's never been more true, but anyone could make a movie better than this. No exaggeration. Anyone.

shareMichael Bay could definitely make a better movie than this, and every Bay film is 2nd in disaster after this film! If your 11 year old had 0 camera training and video editing experience, and you handed them a camera tomorrow and said "make a movie", I have no doubt that it would be kind of a mess but it would still be more of a brilliant mess than this film.
shareDo you truly believe that every single film is worse than this film? Like, even Battlefield Earth, The Room, some obscure drama from the 30s that no-one watched, and the 40 hour Andy Warhole documentary that is just a static shot of the Empire State Building?

2001 is an enduring work of art that invites & challenges the viewer, whom it credits with being curious & intelligent. Films used to do that, and for the general public, not just some avant-garde minority.
