I think the only creepy thing is that a grown woman (Aberlin) has an uncle and aunt (King Friday and the Queen) who were PUPPETS. Even when I was a little kid I found that odd.
"Andy! You goonie!"
I once read an interview with mister rogers where he acknowledged that the show scared some people. He seemed to think that there was an honesty behind the show that some today find alarming.

I'm just going to point out that if your kids are old enough to be honor students then they're probably too old for the age group that Mister Rogers was intended for. Or maybe they're too numbed and desensitized by the trappings of our modern materialistic society to appreciate him.
And I like that he showed how pencils and other things were made. People today take manufactured things too much for granted, especially since manufacturing is pretty much all outsourced to other countries.

Neighborhood was never really about education. It was about letting kids know that they were OK. That they were valuable and lovable. That their feelings and fears are valid.
shareThe show was intended for ages 3-6. Pre-school through Kindergarten, roughly. Kids that age vary in their level of understanding pretty broadly but you can't get too complicated or some of them just get confused.
I think you've mistaken the show for one aimed toward older children, which it really wasn't.
Yeah, like I haven't heard that one a gazillion times. This thread is officially lame.

McFeely is a family name. I suppose Mr. Rogers named him that in honor of his grandfather (a real McFeely).
sharethe only thing that freaked me out was Lady Elaine. seriously.
