So I'm having a debate with my mother, and she swears that Queen Sara Saturday, before marrying King Friday, was a babysitter from Encino. (california, presumably) ...
Can anyone back this up? Robocoptng -- you gotta know the answer on this one, right? :)
Oh thank goodness... I knew Robocop wouldn't let us down. :)
But... my mom SWEARS she was a babysitter from Encino. Now, I'm not doubting what appears to be your incredibly detailed knowledge/database/resource of Mr. Rogers fun facts... but was Sara perhaps a babysitter from Westwood who was scared of some mythical monster?
And... please share what dirt you've got on Lady Elaine?
My mom doesn't have any back up for her "babysitter from Encino" theory... she just remembers it... or thinks she does.
Another question she had... Do you remember the saying "Bad Plan King" ... with regards to an episode where the king was planning a picnic, and then he didn't tell them each what to bring... and so they all brought potato salad? This is another one my mom remembers... but maybe she is in fact crazy. (smile)
So... what's your deal? Do you have the entire series on tape? What's the url for the Tv Tome site you speak of?
And may I ask why your fascination with Mr. Rogers? I can't quite explain my mom's... but we always watched it together when I was young... but she still loves it.
Ah ha! Very interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole "babysitter from Encino" idea was from Sesame Street as well. I know my mom and watched both every day... Thanks!
Of course there's nothing wrong with taking an interest in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood... I truly think it's fantastic! Not to mention, very helpful for those of us who are fans, or fans from our childhood! :)
By the way, I was checking the summaries of some of the black and white episodes from 1968 (none of which I have ever seen), and it does appear that Sara Saturday does some babysitting in Westwood in several episodes. In one of them, she is unable to attend an opera that King Friday invites her to because of her babysitting duties. But I see no mention of Encino anywhere. So your mother's memory does sound at least partially right. Did she watch the black and white episodes? When did they stop airing?
"Do you remember the saying "Bad Plan King" ... with regards to an episode where the king was planning a picnic, and then he didn't tell them each what to bring... and so they all brought potato salad?"
I remember this and just spent the last two minutes laughing about it. Thank you.
