For my 11th birthday, back in 1968, I get a little TV to put in my own bedroom.
The TV set (an EMERSON brand) had a really efficient UHF channel selector.
In my area - Los Angeles - NET shows were broadcast on UHF channel 28.
On Saturday morning, I was eager to see what shows were on the UHF channels that could provide an alternative to all the Saturday morning cartoon shows on CBS, ABC and NBC.
I tuned in Channel 28 and found a full week's worth of Mister Rogers (they broadcast the whole previous week's 5 episodes one after the other on Saturday).
When "Neighborhood" concluded, Julia Child came on (or was it "The Friendly Giant"???)
Anyway, I remember those moments from 1968 like they were yesterday.
"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"
