Why is the name listed this way?

I have never seen any publication that lists "Mister Rogers" as "MisteRogers." Why is the name listed this way?

Every DVD/VHS cover says "Mister Rogers" and that's how it was always listed in TV Guide.

I think this is IMDb's attempt to reproduce the logo, which connected the 'R's. Having two letters connected in the logo does not mean one should be dropped from the name of the show.

sorta funny.

misterogers was teaching kids how to grow up properly, life lessons and such.

and imdb is showcasing mr. rogers as illiterate. or, lazy half-ass spelling.

might as well go the full way, having it, labeled-

MRN

as in, mr. rogers' neighborhood.

It explains this in the Trivia section. The original show was called "MisteRogers" probably just to be cute (the way we combine words like "manscaping"), but Mr Rogers changed it out of concern for children's spelling and literacy. So the official name of the show became "Mr Rogers' Neighborhood", but some publications never caught on.

reply

Thank you for providing that information; I completely missed that in the trivia.

IMDb policy requires keeping the show's original name and original spelling. Note that the current show "Live with Regis and Kelly" is still listed as "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" because that was the show's original name.

reply

Well IMDb policy is stupid, then.

reply

I couldn't agree more.

I did just notice that with Regis leaving the show IMDb finally changed the show title. Now it is:

"Live with Kelly and Michael (1988– )
Live with Regis and Kathie Lee (original title)"

reply

The explanation, I have thought, was that the Canadian show (1961-1967 or so) had the two names smooshed together that way, and the U.S. show (1968 on) had the name change.
