Raising his voice

I seem to remember a episode where Mr. Rogers yelled or raise his voice to a child.. Did he or is it my imagination?

It was during one of those school or back to school episodes and he was doing something in the kitchen, most likely making something but then when he looks he sees a kid in his back yard. When he opens the door to see who it was he asks "Why arn't you in school!?" or something like that.. I think he let the kid in but call his parents after that.

Did this happened?

reply

I doubt it.

reply

I dont think so....I saw the back to school episodes not long ago and i dont recall

reply

I doubt it too. Since the show was taped at the studios of WQED Pittsburgh, don't you think studio security would have noticed it and removed him from the set?

reply

No, it did not.

Fred never was like that. He was passively aggressive, as noted by his coworkers and subordinates. This meant being a perfectionist, making everyone re-do all their work if it wasn't top notch. Not a guy who settled for anything subpar. He was crafty with his words, being able to inject humor and sarcasm into what appears as friendly chatter. A bit of a control freak, having to have his hand over all matters. He was known to stare you down and shake his head, that sort of stuff. Never one who raised his voice or used swear words, but at the time just as effective.

"He was passively aggressive"

I have to wonder when that became a negative quality. Modern psychology tells us it is, as does modern life and we become increasingly more confrontational and violent. I'm starting to object.

reply

You're probably thinking of some parody.

My mom still remembers an episode from when I was little where he was trying to put up a tent and it wouldn't go up as it should. Rather than letting his temper show even though it had to have been frustrating he apparently just turned towards the camera and said something to the nature of "Well let's do something else" or something like that. In other words he didn't let temper show on the air so I doubt he would have yelled at a child. Besides his 'house' was on a sound stage and was a set so I doubt a child would be able to wander in unexpectedly like that in the 1st place.

reply

Indeed, in fact, even if a child were to wander onto the set, studio security would most likely have the child removed.

reply

I just saw that clip on Late Night with Letterman on youtube! Definitely no yelling.
