Season 12 ; A Slight Re-Think
Well ,I'm coming down to the wire on viewing the series on DVD.
Tonight ,Ill be watching the final four of the series and
(BELIEVE IT OR NOT!) will finally ,for the first time see ,"Woe To Wo Fat"!
I stated elsewhere ,that I had seen some of season 12 back in 2007 (I know for sure I saw the 3 before the finale. Trouble was ,the local station did not air te finale but went back to "Full Fathom Five" ,the next night.
I also missed the finale in 1980 and really was too busy growing up in the 1980s to even think about it. In the 1990s ,it wasn;t on Tv here in Phoenix much.
================
Anyhow ,the re-think ,I'm talking about is ,some ofthe shows from this season are really not 'that bad'. Not crazy about the 'boxing' episode but the rest seem to have pretty good writing and the acting didn't suffer either.
Needless to say Jack Lord holds his own
of course ,I don't think anyone wuld expect less.
I feel the only real problems with S. 12 are these :
1. The ratings were waaay down ,so many never really did see these until reruns or DVD. People just 'assumed' the whole season was lousy because Danno & Chino Ho Kelly were no longer there.
2. The 1st female team member. It was a good idea but better if it had happened in an earlier season. Doing it in the midst of introducing 2 other new characters was a mistake. Also ,nothing personal to Sharon Farrell but a stronger female character & actress was needed. (If that could have chanegd the ratings at all anyway.)
3. If Jack Lord knew James was departing long before the end of Season 11 ,he should have said to him ,"Well if that's the case ,let's end this thing right and go out with a bang of an ending!" (Finale's were not common on TV back then.) That way there'd have not been a need for a season 12.
So ,i really feel there's good episodes here.
Top 4 for me (so far) are :
A Lion In The Streets
Use a Gun, Go to ****
A Shallow Grav3
(Edit : July 8th) : A Bird In The Hand
Go for it or just be a gopher!
