GOLD MUSTANG

Has anyone notice the constant presence of a gold convertible Mustang with a white ragtop? It is all over Adam-12. Almost every episode at least once, on occasion twice. But it is there all the time. I wonder if it belonged to a crew member or something or Jack Webb. Watch. You'll see it.

LOL, yes, that's definitely been noticed. At the time of filming, I'm sure nobody ever dreamed this show could be "binge-watched" and people would notice such things so easily. I've heard the car belonged to the studio and was used whenever background cars are needed. Every now & then it takes a more prominent role in an episode, but usually it's just background. (It's been dubbed the "stalker 'stang." )

That gold Mustang on ADAM 12 was like the silver Chevy Vega on THE ROCKFORD FILES... You could play a drinking game & take a shot each time they're spotted.

Until I saw this thread yesterday I never paid attention. Well tonight I watched the season 2 episode Log 43: Hostage, where Malloy walks in on a hold up at Duke's and sure enough what do I see parked next to Duke's? The Gold Mustang! Maybe that gold mustang is the Adam 12 equivalent of that Beetle we see throughout the famous car chase scene on the Streets of San Francisco in the Steve McQueen movie Bullitt.

By the way is the Mustang that Malloy buys in the college episode the same Mustang we're talking about?

reply

The gold mustang belonged to Lee Kass, Kent McCord's stand-in. Lee would

also be used as an extra in many episodes and was required to drive his own

car to filming locations and it was used in about 150 episodes as a background

car to " fill " the exterior scenes.

It is either a 67 or 68 Mustang.

That's good info, haven't seen Adam 12 since late 70s reruns and been binge watching them. I thought that it was some tv crews car. You always seen it somewhere in the background or even foreground sometimes! Thanks!
