Capture (1973) - When they write a script don't they try to come close

Malloy to Mr Dawson: You're a prominent man, a burgler could learn things about you from the newspaper... birthday...aniversary.

Dawson to Malloy: My birthday 1...19...16

1973-1916=57 No way did he look like he was 57.

The actor that played Dawson, Lyle Talbot was born in 1902. ... 71 yrs old... that's more like it.

Every third person who complains will be shot. Two people have complained already!

I'm not familiar with the scene in question, but I think some of the shows of this era were very generous with people's ages. (Dragnet, Adam-12, Emergency, etc.) Characters whose ages are given as 30-something when they're clearly 50-something... or in this case characters whose ages are given as 50 something when they're clearly 70-something.  

Ah yes, the Jack Webb Age-o-Meter - where Emergency's Dixie McCall is some how able to be 35 years old in 1972 and yet served as a nurse in the Korean War (1950-1953) - making her a 12 year old Army nurse.
