Super book, well done film

The movie stayed really close to the book. Sandy Dennis was ideal in this role, in fact all of the actors were just perfect. Eileen Heckart was just as she was written-a good if lad-de-da teacher. Ferone was hot.

When you consider that the book was written in the form of letters, memos, student compositions, Suggestion Box notes, etc. (similar to the structure of Stoker's "Dracula"), it must have been particularly challenging to turn into a screenplay. A lot of the novel's details were omitted, but, all in all, it's an absolute classic. The book inspired me to read Miss Barrett's favorite authors--Chaucer, Millay and Dickinson especially. I guess you could say this book was one of the most influential books of my life!
