he called her a bitch

I found it unnecessary that Mark called Jo Anna (Audrey Hepburn)a bitch. I hurt my ears and left me stunned when I saw him say that. You cannot call Audrey Hepburn that in fact no woman should ever be called that. It just bothered me when he called her a bitch.

Did you watch the film's conclusion? He called her a 'bitch' & she called him a 'bastard,' then they smiled and kissed. For Mark & Joanna, these were almost terms of endearment.

Yes I know but, I still found it disturbing

I found it unnecessary when Joanne says Maurice is waiting then Mark says Bitch.

It should be noted than when Mark says this, Joanna is out of earshot & doesn't hear him - he's inside the car and she's outside. Just as Mark doesn't hear Joanna call him a "bastard" when he comes out of the sea imitating THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (admittedly, she does so with an affectionate tone).

I can understand why people don't love these words, but if you're doing a realistic portrait of marriage - and that's what TWO FOR THE ROAD is - words like this will be part of the portrait. And compared to what many husbands & wives actually say to each other, Mark & Joanna's language is relatively mild.
