Did their daughter die, and if so, can someone supply some details, please? I watched TFTR for the first time two days ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, but I must have missed this part when the phone rang. Thanks to anyone who can help me!
shareNo, Caroline doesn't die. As the film opens, while Mark and Joanna are waiting in the airport lounge, Joanna goes to a pay phone and calls London. After talking to Caroline for a while, she offers the phone to Mark (who's just finished arguing with Maurice on a different phone) -
MARK (scowling): Who is it now?
JOANNA: Caroline.
MARK (confused): Caroline??
JOANNA: Caroline Wallace - your daughter.
MARK: Oh, Caroline... (taking the phone)...Hello! How's my little girl?
So she definitely wasn't dead; she was just staying at home with Granny and Nanny. Mark and Joanna thought it would be best to take this particular trip on their own.
Thank you, Murph24! In one of the reviews here, someone mentions their daughter's death--hence my confusion. Obviously, that person is wrong, or misinformed.
