Just watched this for the first time. In the opening scene with Thackeray riding the bus and the middle to late middle-aged English women jabbering on, they immediately reminded me of the Flying Circus characters that the Pythons played so well. Made me chuckle.

I never thought of that but those cockney ladies could be the Python clan. I can see Terry Jones or John Cleese as Mrs. Josephs and her friend as Eric Idle telling her she can send over her Alfie. Very funny stuff.
