Point Blank on DVD

Like Pault8 I too am eager to own this excellent film on DVD. It's a shame the much inferior Mickey Rourke remake is available but not the Lee Marvin 1967 original. This is a film, along with John Sturges' The Satan Bug (1965) and Don Siegel's Charley Varrick (1973), which I will definitely own on DVD as soon as they come available (hopefully in their original aspect ratio). So come on respective film companies...get working! E.J. Felici, Malta.

I agree. I've been hoping to see this released for several years now. I only saw it once about 8 years ago and have never found it anywhere since then.

Someone, somewhere, release this movie!

Funny this, The Satan Bug and Charley Verrick plus Point Blank are exactly the three underrated films I also want to see on DVD. I hope we won´t have to wait too long. It bugs me there is much crap available on DVD and so many classics not.

You're joking right?

I have not seen Mickey Rourke's Point blank....But I do know for a fact that Payback with Mel Gibson is in fact a remake of the 1967 Lee Marvin film.

Hi

The Satan Bug is available in Widescreen on DVD in Norway. If you want it, I could buy the title from the local store and mail it to you. By the way, your player must be able to handle Region 2.

Kind regards, Paul

The Mel Gibson film Payback is the remake of Point Blank. Both written by Richard Stark aka Donald Westlake. What I hated about both films is that they can never get the main character name straight. In the book his name is Parker, in the Gibson film its Porter, in Point Blank its Walker. Its one word, get it right.

reply

Westlake didn't want the film characters to have the name Parker. In fact, when Gibson tried to call Payback, "Parker", Westlake said "only over my dead body".

I'm watching it right at this moment. This film has always been one of my faves. I'm glad it's finally out on DVD.

His name...was Julio Iglesias!
