Name change: Parker to Walker

A thought just ocurred to me...was the name change from Novel to Film because Marvin's character does a lot of walking?...especially in the long corridor scene

Walker is more dynamic and forceful than Parker, I guess. To walk, or to park?

Author Donald Westlake didn't want the name Parker used for films unless the movie based on his novels became a series of films. That's why every movie based on a Westlake book (or his pen name, "Richard Stark") has the Parker character with a different name.

In a recent interview with John Boorman the director, he comments that the name Walker was used to suggest a man in constant movement and pursuit. His ominous march along the corridor set to the drumbeat of his shoes is an example of Walker's grim determination which he employs at his own pace. I think it's a far better name than Parker, which is used for the recent Jason Statham remake.
