Susan Hayward
Joseph Mankiewicz asked one of his favorite stars Susan Hayward to star in this film but her husband Eaton Chalkley fell ill and died during production. Susan had to divide her time between Rome where the film was shot and Florida where Mr. Chalkley died. This was the last film Susan Hayward did that rightfully had
Hayward as a movie star of the first rank. After The Honey Pot Ms. Hayward semi retired to grieve over her Husband. Ms. Hayward would return to films as Judy Garland's replacement in Valley Of The Dolls, and to reunite with one her favorite Directors Daniel Mann and longtime friend William Holden in The Revengers- Susan Hayward's last theatrical film, and two TV movies. Sadly Susan Hayward died far too young.
