I Don't Know why...

but this whole movie feels like a dream to me-
i mean, with all the slow yet interestingly crafted scenes, as well as the seemingly endless chases, the impossibly courageous getaways, and the air of uncertainty and unimportance the whole movie carries...

It somehow makes me feel like I'm reliving a nightmare from my past.

This is one of the reasons this is also my favorite film.

Does anyone feel like they're just watching a dream for 108 minutes?

this movie is just one of my all-time faves because it's got everything I want in a movie: fun, thrill, action....
I love also the fantastic atmosphere in it, like the scene where you see the paintings on the wall and hear the wolves bark, or the snowy mountains that enslave the castle.....it gives me the creeps everytime I watch this cult classic.
.....just love it......

I kinda felt like I was watching one of my dreams when I watched the german version of the play

Yes, this movie very much has a dream-like atmosphere to it, often because of illogical elements. Something that strikes me is how the location of the Count's crypt changes. First it's down below the courtyard, then it's up near the roof of the castle. It seems actually to be in both places at once. This is somewhat what it would be like if you were experiencing this in a dream. Also, the transitions from day to night seem to happen suddenly, with both passing by in only a few hours. For vampire hunters that have been at it for years, the Professor and Alfred seem strangely ignorant of vampire folklore, and why is Alfred so afraid to stake a vampire? I've watched this film many times, and I must confess that I often put it on late at night, so I usually fall asleep to it or during large parts of it. Dream-like indeed.

It is most certainly very dream-like. No other film ever made has ever even approached the incredible atmosphere that FVK has.

I agree, completely. You summed it up perfectly in your description.

But the film as a whole... the imagery is just beautiful. The colours are so vibrant. The soundtrack is wonderfully haunting. The story and the acting are perfect. It's funny, but also scary and bleak at times.

I see no reason why this isn't in the top 250 on IMDB. Just because it's a fang-in-cheek comedy? I couldn't leave this beautiful film out of my top 10 if I wanted to.

I've always seen it as a long lost Fairy Tale.
A beautiful, near faultless blend of laughs and chills.
