and i'll sing in a low voice 'How beautiful is a Funeral'

i am interested in a song that is played about 20 minutes into the film in a Grave yard, when Lis starts to sing "I am going to die and no one will remember me (or to that effect)" and Fando replies that he will remember her and will bring a dog and a flower to her grave(WTF?!?!?). Does anyone know anything about this song? Is it a popular song in Mexico (i have my doubts that it is real, outside of the film) or was it composed for the film?

Did anyone else find it as interesting and catchy as i did????
I ended up whistling the tune for several days after viewing it, for some reason.

Sadly Since almost no one has seen this film i probably will not receive a reply for several years... but i hope someone remembers this song...

I alsofound it incredibly catchy and morbid at the same time. The other song, the on of the Funeral is also pretty goo. I doubt that they were atual songs previous to this movie.

I am mexican, born and raised. The only time I've listened that song is when I've watched this movie.

So I assume it was composed to be used only in this movie.

We have (in México) plenty of songs that talks about death, graves, etc. since our relationship with "death" is quite different from other countries. But IMO that song in particular was created just for the movie.

Ah! but more importantly, do you think Dennis Hopper was inspired by this in making the acid trip in the graveyard scene from Easy Rider?

The song is actually:

Que bonito es un entierro,
iré a verte al cementerio,
con una flor y un perro

is made to rhyme in spanish, and the english translation is not literal, beacuse "entierro" is closer to "burial" than funeral

I'm mexican, born and raised also, and I don't remember listening to this before the movie. Well, not exactly, have you heard of Agalloch? a dark metal band from Portland, Oregon. There's a song, "The hawthorne passage", where they use the voices of Fando and Lis at the end of it. It's a nice reference, but it kinda gives you goosebumps.
