Episode question
I'm trying to find the name of an episode I only dimly remember. I believe it was about a "haunted" house where some people had disappeared. Does this ring any bells?

Sharon Gless, Lenore Kasdorf and young folks abound.
"It's as red as The Daily Worker and just as sore."
...around in his chair...
and you hear a ghostly moan:
"Irons---i---i---i---i--de
Irons---i---i---i---i--de"
?
Has haunted me since I saw it back in the day; would love to see it again - if this is the one
jimacleve: The episode you are interested in was built around one of the most intriguingly original concepts for the episode of a police crime drama detective series, and it provided Raymond Burr with a second opportunity in his role as Chief Ironside to turn in a tour-de-force, largely wordless performance as well!
The following info was obtained for you via a Google search.
Episode No. 160 - House of Terror
First aired: 10/25/1973 Production Code: LP44182
The Commissioner's niece makes a bet that she can sleep for one night in the master bedroom of a haunted mansion, then disappears without trace. The team decide to stay the night as well, but the Chief also vanishes. He finds himself alone in the house, surrounded by ghostly figures, sinister statues and whispered messages, whilst Ed, Mark and Fran try to find out where he has gone.

"I'm almost resigned to living on what I earn."
jmacleve: The episode was indeed one of those aired during the seventh season of the series. Has your library managed to obtain bootleg copies of the entire series? The reason I ask is that Shout Factory, the distributor that has been given official sanction and access to produce retail copies of the series' episodes has to date only released the first and second seasons.

Out of curiosity, what was the first?

seagirl:
Here's the first episode where Burr's talents and skills at wordless performance were magnificently showcased:
Series Episode No. 75 Season 3 Episode No. 21: One Hour to Kill

"One Hour to Kill" - for me, one of the highlights of the series.
"I'm almost resigned to living on what I earn."
Ah - Of course!

In my opinion "House Of Terror" is the most unusual and absolutly the most bizarre episode ever of Ironside. It was on just the other day on RTV. It is interesting that it was in the 7th season. I say this because most shows that are on for that long are exploring ways to remain fresh to viewers and try to come up with something unusual. An episode like this would never have been on during the early days of Ironside.
