Eve's Incredible Changing Wardrobe

The women is a phenomenon. First she's with Ed and Ironside in his office wearing a natty blue outfit with a light raincoat. Then she and Ed go over to a house and she's wearing that yellow and red Sixties outfit with the round zipper. You know, the one that makes her look like a Gerry Anderson puppet. Then she and Ed go over to another place and she's wearing a blue outfit with a tweed jacket. Then they leave and you see her wearing a completely different coat as they drive in the car. Then when they arrive at their destination she's wearing that yellow Sixties groovy number again. As they are now well out of their hood, she is forced to remain in this outfit until the end of the episode where she's wearing a blue turquoise jacket (although in fairness, this scene could be taking place the next morning.)

Not content with looking like an alien from Village Of The Damned, she has to dazzle us with four dress changes in one day. I know she was from a fashionable background, but this is meant to be police work, luv, not a stroll down the catwalk in Milan. I guess everytime she tells the boys she's going to powder her nose, they say "see you in an hour and ten minutes then."

Ah, Eve, the walking lightbulb. I get the impression you could probably toast crumpets off her.

Gary-161: As it appears you are referencing a specific episode of the series It would be most helpful if you would provide forum members with its title.

I don't think anybody has hair like that. It was like a helmet.

"He sent the rain."
"Who sent the fire?"

thbryn: I used to see that hairstyle quite a bit back in the mid-to-late '60s. It was called a "bubble" and involved a lot of "teasing with a brush and a lot of laquer hairspray.

To be fair, at least Eve wore different clothes- in the episodes I've seen (the first 3 seasons) the men usually wear the same outfit throughout an entire episode (and an entire episode almost always occurs over several days). It's particularly noticeable with Mark who literally wears the same green shirt and dark jacket for the almost all of the first half of year one, then switches to a gold shirt for the second half and into season 2. It makes it seem as if he's either dirt poor or unhygenic.

Ironside and Ed always wear dark suits ties and white shirts. In the 70s, they mix it up more, though I guess because of his weight they always keep Ironside in the similar outfit.

Eve's helmet hairdo was an improvement over her short cut, IMO.

Sorry,Terry, but I can't recall the plot so I can't give you the episode. Usually the plots revolve around a friend or acquiantance of the team who is either kidnapped, threatened (it helps if you're a baseball pro) or accused of murder. The number of times this happens is statistically gobsmacking.

Eve is half the problem. She stands behind Ironside in a red coat while he's questioning someone and you can't follow what he's saying. With every passing episode I'm falling more and more in love with her blue eyes, blonde bouffaunt hairdo (she could have tenants move into it) and retro wardrobe. Which is strange when you think she's someone's granny by now.

Also love Ed's straight preppy (and unchanging) wardobe. In fact, I love this show. Especially the pristine studio backlots. Apart from the back alleys where there's a token bit of rubbish deposited around the trash cans.

What a gorgeous, gorgeous lady. Love the show and was delighted to find the first four seasons on Shout!

reply

Yes. I got my four seasons from Shout and have enjoyed watching those episodes over and over. I have also tried to watch the episodes from the last four seasons that the series was on and they did not appeal to me at all. I just could not get into the series without her. The show seemed so very different.

I like how she brandishes her gun with gloves on. After all, what lady doesn't wear white dress gloves when shooting at bad guys?

maybe i'm going nuts or need a new stereo receiver i cant put my finger on it but it seems she speaks with a slight accent sometimes??
dunno.

reply

Not sure I've noticed any accent for Eve. Could it be that affectation that is sported (on TV, at least) by so-called rich society women? Like how they call everyone 'darling.'

Just a guess. :-p I'll have to listen to her more closely next time.
