I bought a TV Guide that showed a picture of Raymond Burr playing three parts in the episode "Death by Numbers". He played Ironside, the artist Duffy and Ironside playing Duffy. I think this really shows his range in acting. Has anyone seen this episode and do you agree?
You are so right that Raymond Burr is the only one who could have done both roles. I was looking today at the list of all of his movies and he has so much acting experience by the time that he became Perry Mason and Ironside and knew how to be the character in both cases. I wish ME-TV understood how significant Ironside is as a series. Checking our catalog at our library, most of the copies of the first four seasons are checked out right now, because ME-TV decided that Ironside was expendable for the summer. But there is a demand for it, because people do recognize how good Raymond Burr was in that role. Well, at least I do have episodes to watch and probably will watch one tonight before bedtime.
I find it fascinating that Raymond Burr, in the Carleton Duffy role, looks exactly like he would over a decade later when he reprised his other classic role of Perry Mason.
