❤️️ Victoria's Blue Velvet Suit.

❤️️
Very becoming. she always seemed to wear that when she went somewhere off the ranch. The amazing thing about that suit is that she always managed to get it filthy and usually torn up before she got back home. A few episodes later, that suit would be back on her again, clean and better than cleaned and mended. It looked brand new!
I never noticed it before I stared to binge this show. Now, I'd bet she has a whole closet full of those same velvet suits!
Comments? And don't go telling me that the Wardrobe Dept. had a whole rack of those. I know that......
Allow me to be back on the ranch with her and the guys.

I must confess that since the first season, I have noticed that Victoria has increased her traveling outfits. I am now up to the 3rd season, and I haven't seen Hide nor Hair of that crushed velvet traveling ensemble! Praise be!
I'm assuming that after a while, she could no longer mend it.... that, and the fact that John has loosened the purse strings and has allowed her more of a wardrobe.
She had to have had a large one, being the daughter of such a rich man though.

This was not unusual for tv westerns of that time. The four men on "Bonanza" almost always wore the same clothes. I imagine Adam Cartwright's closet: black shirt, black shirt, black shirt, black shirt, black shirt, black shirt, black shirt, etc...

Well, first of all, Happy to meet you, liscarkat! It's a real pleasure to have someone to discuss these things with on the High Chaparral board. For the past few weeks I have been posting in the hope that other fans of the show would see it on the trending board and come discuss the show.
If you look, you will find that I have been talking with the ghosts of IMDb. It hasn't been unpleasant, but I was starting to run out of things to discuss, so, I brought up Victoria's traveling suit a couple of weeks ago. i had noticed it several times and it gets ripped and filthy, but always looks good the next time I see it.
I was joking around when I posted this. Believe me when I say that I completely understand what you are saying.
By the way, Adam and Buck must have gotten together with the same personal shopper who dressed Johnny Cash. They all liked black.

I think you're right about Johnny Cash. Although Adam and Buck lived in the late 19th century, so I imagine Johnny saw some old Daguerreotypes of them and was inspired to become a "Man in Black" himself.

I, too was a faithful watcher of "High Chaparral".

Do you ever watch it these days? It's on each morning on the Heroes and Icons channel.
If you don't get that, most of the episodes are on YouTube.
It's great to see it after all these years. If you haven't noticed by now, I was a huge fan myself.

Yes, that dark blue suit is very nice.

Well, it's very reminiscent of the crushed velvet look that was so popular in the late 60s to the early 70s.
I was never a big fan of that, but it was the fashion back then.
As for a woman of the late 1800s, I'm not sure, although, Victoria could surly afford velvet. She came from a very wealthy family.
I have been watching some of the shows from the 3rd season in the past day or two. I've noticed that she wears other traveling outfits in some of those episodes, but I also noticed that she sometimes mixes and matches different things, so I still occasionally see that blue skirt with a different jacket and the blue jacket with a different skirt.
I like checking out these things.... wardrobe, furnishings in the house, the house it's self.
