The Best Show

I love this show. I have an original vinyl that used to be my moms and I listen to it all the time!
Doesnt anyone else like this show?

I am a total history girl. I always have my nose stuck in a book.

reply

I do! I think it is one of the greatest tv shows of all time. But, sadly, it's terribly underrated...

To err is human, but it feels divine.

It was the BEST sitcom ever,I know, some will want to throw tomatoes at me
in disagreement, but it was fun,the music was excellent,it certainly was original, and was the ONLY new sitcom in the 1967-68 season to make it as a
bonified hit.I LOVED it when Sister Bertrille, who weighed only 90 lbs.,would pitch her cornette toward the strong breezes, bobbing her head like a duck to get
airlifted and fly. Many today are coldhearted towards it,such as TV Guide, ranking it as the 42nd worst show of all time, saying it had the most
bizzare premise ever(they must have forgotten the awful "My Mother The Car"
sitcom when making that distinction.),but many still love its charm. If TV Land
brings it back, let's hope the don't chop away lots of scenes for commercials,as
they have done, and let's hope they play all three seasons this time, not just
episodes 2-30 of season one and episode 31 of season two.

I just bought the DVD of the Season 1, and I'm still so excited. I saw 24 episodes already, and I like it more and more. I have to agree with you: It's my favorite sitcom of all time. There is no other more cute than this. The young Sally Field and the whole cast, is simply FABULOUS. Also the songs, the stories, etc.

I'm ready to order the Season 2 right now!

Miss Yvonne De Carlo ROCKS!!!

The Flying Nun was a fun show.

I wonder if you can help me regarding this movie. When I was little I loved a song sung by nuns, I think the name of the song was Dominica. Do you know if that was sung in The Flying Nun?

reply

Yes it was...

Actually, it was sung by the Singing Nun, a real nun who had a top ten hit with "Domenica" in 1965. She ceased being a nun in the early seventies, came out the closet and shortly thereafter committed suicide. This is according to The Billboard Book of One-Hit Wonders. Sorry to be a downer, but I just wanted you to know.

reply

Actually from what I understand, she was being asked to pay taxes on the royalties of the song. Nuns are not required to pay taxes, but after she left the church she was open season for the tax collector. "Dominique" was the name of the song, BTW

She is listed here as well.
