In the episode D.H.Q.: Night School (1970), Ocifer "Mr. Clean" Joe Friday clearly violated the civil rights of a student - no probable cause, unlawful detainment, unlawful search and seizure, that it should have led to his being fired from the LAPD. It's hilarious watching how horrendously UN-informed these Captain Clean idiots were back then.
Why is Joe taking the course?...to get a look at the opposing team's playbook, so to speak. That being said, anyone that's stupid enough to leave a bag of pot in plain sight of a police officer deserves to get busted, with a charge of felony dumbass thrown in for good measure.
Webb might. But Joe Friday wouldn't. He always said, if you don't like the law, change it. Well, that's exactly what the people of California, and many other states did regarding medicinal marijuana.
Personally, wasting time chasing down pot and pot smokers is, in my opinion, one of the biggest wastes of time law enforcement engages in.

Uh...no. Your contention is that police officers who see a person openly carrying a bag of drugs (the type of drug doesn't matter), has no probable cause?? You are wrong.
Now, if he thought Jerry was carrying based on a 'feeling', that's not probable cause. But the fact Jerry had the bag of weed in plain sight, combined with his rushed attempt to hide it, that's enough for Friday to stop him, search him, confirm the bag was marijuana, and arrest him. Period.

The thing of it is, he's not even as much a caricature of a left wing teacher as he is a perfect example. I had a political science teacher just like him. I never had more fun than chewing up liberal professors in debates. Now occasionally you find a smart one. But when challenged, liberal profs like that tend to overplay their hand and embellish. even when the don't have to. That's the downfall of most liberals. They almost always overstate and embellish the few facts they bring up.
Not all liberals are bad. But the ones like that prof sure are.
One of my best friends worked for the Obama Campaign - high enough to get to be at one of the Inaugural Balls. And he's up there in the Bernie Sanders campaign. But even he tends to embellish - when he doesn't have to. Not everything about liberals is wrong. I'm more conservative, but couldn't belong to either party. Sanders goes off the deep end, and that will be his undoing. He deliberately mis-states facts and leaves other facts out so that his narrative fits his own warped view of reality.
The 60's mentality really isn't gone. In fact, much of that crowd now runs the DNC. Except for the ones that actually became conservatives, which were quite a few.
Today, Jerry probably is a Republican. Or at least, a Libertarian. LMAO!
