March 17, 1973. The next to last episode of Season 6. They did a series of tribute spoofs of popular sit-coms and TV shows, including Sonny and Cher, Maude, The Golddiggers and Password. Peggy Lee and William Conrad were the guests. :-)

Do you have the DVD of the original hour-long shows? Or the "Carol and Friends" half-hour reductions? If it's the former, it's at the end of Season Six; if it's the latter, you'll have to go to the IMBD pages of Season Six and compare the episodes to the synopses on the DVDs to find out which one it is because they don't line up exactly. (When they did the reductions, they edited them so the sketches from one episode were spread out over two or more episodes, but they are still in roughly the same order.) I don't have the DVDs, but they've been showing them on MEtv in LA and that sketch was in an episode a while back, so it should be there.

I'm watching it right now and Cher is on! I know the OP was asking about Sonny and Cher but I figured that it was close enough.

Anyway, it was only a half hour so they cut some of the skits/songs out but it was still pretty good.
