Has anybody seen the Lost Episodes yet?

I got mine 3 days after I ordered it- very fast delivery! There are a few disappointments, however;

1) The dvds, like the last collection, have the shows in random order. I had to look through all the booklets to find the first episode ever. I really wanted to start with that one.

2) It seems most of the episodes feature the Carol and Sis sketches. I wonder, was that particular sketch really THAT popular, or is it just one of Carol's personal favorites, since it's apparently based on her own life? Same thing with As the Stomach Turns- like the Carol and Sis sketch, it gets very tiring to see so often.

3) The quality of the episode with Flip Wilson nosedives considerably during the Q&A segment for a few minutes. I assume this wasn't just my copy. Not a big deal, though.

4) The price is very high for the amount of episodes we get.

5) Some of the bonus features are, well, boring. I was excited to see the tour of studio 33, but I think it was 30 minutes, but probably only 10 minutes or less was actually the tour, the rest consisted of scenes from various episodes... long scenes. And some of the interviews with the guest stars seem to ramble a bit.

Just wondering what other folks think about this collection.

I pretty much agree with your assessment. I popped in my DVD's as soon as I received them, but had a hard time finding episodes or sketches that interested me. Maybe I am just used to the later years from when I was a kid, but I wasn't all that impressed with these "Lost Episodes". In fact, I put it away and kind of forgot about it. And I think I'm still making payments to Time Life.

I've heard some of the cast members say that they didn't feel the show solidified until after the first few years. Those early episodes are more like a typical variety show.

I just bought it. I'm looking forward to, hopefully, lots of laughs.

I just got the condensed version which is 7 discs containing 18 episodes, with "5 hours of bonus features". Lots of laughs so far, but I'm noticing a lot more musical numbers than there were in the later years. SOme of them a re kind of hokey, like Vicki Lawrence doing this song and dance number with the lyrics "If an American Boy goes anywhere near you, take care of your heart". Oh my GOD - somebody was on something when this was written. I know it was the late 60s, but, still....

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked.

I bought the complete box set and had to make payments to Time Life for months. It was great seeing the 60's episodes, but they are arranged all over the place. Episode 1 is in the middle of a bunch of later episodes. I was hoping it would be a complete 5 year release, but it was just another favorites compilation.

I noticed in the 1967-68 season episodes, they left in the CBS presents this program in color logo and the original sponsors tags with Lyle's voice over which was cool, but the later shows have none.

I remember them saying in season 1 Vicki would only appear in the Carol & Sis sketches and maybe some musical numbers, bit parts and that was it. She was so young (18) and nervous they slowly trained her. In season 2 they started giving her more to do.
