I loved that line where Martha kept asking George what movie this quote was from! It was Bette Davis from Beyond the Forest.

and Bette Davis was almost cast in the role of Martha, seriously. Imagine her recreating that line

There's no way Bette Davis could have played that role. Martha was an older boozy MILF sex pot. I've ever seen Bette Davis play such a role, especially at that age. It would have been a miscast.

Did Bette ever comment on it? She lived enough to see this become a modern classic.
