son was imaginary, what's with all the insults relating to the "bad parenting"?
George claims Martha made sexual advances towards their son and Martha claims George wanted to ruin him. Were they just trying to insult each other for the hell of it??
That's just how far they had taken their 'fantasy'.

Hmmm, no I think it is more than that. The whole bit about George accusing Martha of barging in on their teenage son's private bath time reeked of incest.
These are two incredibly screwed up people. It's hard to separate fact from fantasy, but I'm confident that there was sexual abuse in one or both of their pasts. They use real facts---sprinkle them liberally on their fantasies---the line gets blurry for the audience because it gets lost on them as well!!
