Mixed feelings about this movie

I just finished watching this and came away with the same conclusion, a film that looks very good, but poorly edited and a bit muddled.

I agree, though I watched a poor print so the cinematography was rather watered out. By far the weakest Suzuki I have seen.

Wow. I agree with everyone here. I actually fell asleep during this movie. And I didn't fall asleep during Hollywoodland or Good Luck and Good Night. The style didn't do a damn thing for me. Yes, I found the editing sloppy too. Like another poster who disliked this flick, I also found most characterizations and situations forced. I feel 7.1 out of 10 rating is 4 points too high.

"I found it really visually interesting but felt like the plot and writing was near-braindead. There's no consistency or logic, no real characterization or any kind of consideration of plot besides the basic framework of "these guys are in a gang and they shoot each other". Half the movie was just people getting phone calls and often things just completely made no sense ("my range is ten meters"?)."

I appreciated the film's stupidity and anti-logic. That's what makes it fun. Although I think Branded to Kill is way more hilarious, surreal, incoherent (in a good way), interesting, and memorable, and is easily the better film.

I agree. The plot of this film is just all over the place. How is one actually supposed to fihure out what's happening is beyond me.
