one hour

anyone know why abc is taking an hour to show this?

reply

I was wondering the exact same thing. Instead of showing an hour of it why couldn't they have made it a double feature with Garfield's Halloween Adventure?

reply

Its because during the second half hour, they are showing "You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown."

reply

They couldn't do that NEXT Tuesday?

reply

They have been shown back to back for a while now. But I guess that would make more sense this year under the circumstances.

reply

It would make more sense to show it next week I say, Halloween has very FEW good specials on TV anymore for the viewing public, as a matter of fact THIS cartoon is about the only thing left.

More ads. In fact, the ABC affiliate in Minneapolis, KSTP, just ruined it by starting 30 seconds late- Linus and Lucy were already in the pumpkin patch, skipping the whole alarm clock and walking out the door parts. "Aaaaaugh!"

This and the Chirstmas special have recently been "double featured" with other, less classic, Peanut's cartoons.

The Great Pumpkin (as well as the Christmas show) are shown in their entirity. Since networks now show more comericals than in the 1960's when these were produced, when shown uncut they over flow past the half hour mark. The following special (You're not elected Charlie Brown) may have little cuts in it to allow it to fit into the time slot.

If they would just show The Great Pumpkin, then they would have to make cuts to allow it to fit into the half hour slot so the next, unrelated show, would fit into its half hour slot. The way it is now, the Great Pumpkin runs to around 8:34 or 8:35.

"Peanuts." No apostrophe.

But you're right about everything else. But while I'd rather take "Great Pumpkin" with no edits, rather then "You're Not Elected" with edits, for some reason they cut off the very end, which I think they've done before. And it makes no sense. After Sally kicks her locker and walks away, it's supposed to open. What is ABC thinking?

The only other cut I noticed was when Sally first brings up her annoyance with the lockers with Charlie Brown (I think). That's why she seemingly brings it up out of nowhere with Linus.
