This may be a dumb question, but...

On a discussion group I'm on, someone said her son told her that Great Pumpkin has been edited, and Peppermint Patty and Marcie have been taken out. Maybe from all the Charlie Brown cartoons?
Said they are "politially incorrect" (huh?)
This has been going on, as a topic, and people watched it Tues night, but not sure if PP and Marcie had been in it (much) anyway.
I looked it up and there's a person listed as the VOICE of Peppermint Patty, but didn't seem like she was in it (enough to talk) when it showed Tues night.
It also showed the part where the kids, in ghost costumes, etc compared notes on the candy they got and Charlie Brown said he got rocks, two different times.
I haven't seen it for a long time, or paid attention to it (I've gone through watching it myself, my kids AND grandkids watching it) so don't know if it was different (edited) and PP and Marcie HAD been in it originally.
I always think those old cartoons get shorter over time to make time for more commercials.
Has anyone heard this, about it being edited?

Although it has been edited in the past when it was shown on CBS, the ABC
broadcasts generally air unedited.
Peppermint Patty and Marcie didn't come along until the later specials
(I think it was " He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown!" that first depicted
Peppermint Patty; Marcie came a few years later). There was an earlier Patty
in the series; she and her friend Violet would pal around together, generally
throwing catty comments in Charlie Brown's direction. I think he eventually
got bored with them and retired them from the strip, and from the later
specials.
Maybe you're thinking of the Thanksgiving special, which did feature the
two girls inviting themselves to "Chuck"'s house for Thanksgiving dinner?

I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!

Peppermint Patty and Marcie weren't even in the Peanuts comic strip in 1966 when this was made. There is the character Patty--she wears a check dress and a bow in her hair. She and Violet were phased out in the late 60's from the strip and subsequently the tv specials.

PP and Marcie are the most annoying of all the Peanuts characters. PP is just plain stupid (she thinks Snoopy is a strange looking kid instead of a dog) and Marcie's always calling PP "sir" is tiresome.
